I have a finence who is a Muslim and Im wondering who I can contact about a little situation that I have. I have a fience of 6 years that I’m passionately in love with. However recently I have been feeling to leave the relationship because he smokes weed constantly, (3-4 times a day). It doesnt seem to be a way of meditation because right after he plays video games for 2-3 hours.
I have put up with it for years and he says he will stop, but to no avail. Am I being annoying? We live in a one bedroom and he smokes and we fight cause I can’t simply smell the stink of the smoke. And I cant stand to see money wasted like this daily. Im not saint, but I realize that as my first relationship we have to save in order to have a blessed future.
The first thing he does when he wakes for work is smokes weed. The last thing he does before bed is more weed.
He wont listen to me nor his mom. All his firends do it so they wouldnt encourage him to stop.
Please help me becuase although God I feel has brought us together, this weed is at the brink of breaking us up.I feel like Im ready to walk out of the relationship He will listen to the a great figure like yourself, please advise, thanks for you great time.

I wanted to talk with you about the changes that are going to be made in the educational system here in California. They have created this Africian American Advisory Committee. I really don’t know who is on this committee but I know that the changes must come from a group that is more engaged in the community than this group. We have to have ways to provide services to our children in the local school from the inside this is a change in how the funds are allocated and who is considered a partner in the educational system. I am concrend because this must be a real effort and I do not believe that this is happening. You can contact the California Department of Education for find out the plan for service providers who want to work in the local schools.

Dear Dr. Cornel West, It is a honor and a privilege to be writing you with hopes that you will write back in response. I listen to as many lectures of yours as I can get my hands on and I watch you on television whenever I have the chance to do so. I value your words and intellect as much as any other teacher or professor I have ever know or heard. Through your deeply rooted traditions you are able to hold onto something that is so very precious to us, and you are able to remind us of what we are here to do. Through constant reexamination, love and compassion we will one day reach the places that we know can be reached. My girlfriend and I are two recently graduated students from CSULB’s political science undergrad program. I know how important education is and I will dedicate the rest of my life towards pursuing love, the truth, and justice as it is constantly re-defined in our certainly not so perfect legal system. I have recently (last few years) have dreamed of what it would be like to have a conversation with you or even just a correspondence of anykind. My girlfriend and I often times will think of book ideas and organizations that we could potentially create, but usually our idea simply remain ideas. But the other day we thought of a book, and we could not help but take action on our idea. I just wanted to reach out to you because I will certainly be using you in my book, and I wanted, I suppose, a general vote of confidence, if you even get a chance to read this letter. I have spent 20 years living in Europe; performing and perfecting my style of music and my voice.
What I am about to say is a secret, because I have never told anybody before.
I remember reading newspaper, magazines and watching television and hearing about Quincy Jones, Miles Davis, Josephine Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Armstrong Satchmo, and many others had left America and were enjoying a unique audience in Europe. And here in America, we were still being segregated. I couldn’t wait to go to Europe. When I walked into the street of major cities in Europe, there was a band playing on every corner. To my surprise, something sounded familiar. Was that funk that I was hearing? Was that blues I was hearing? Was that jazz that I was hearing? I had to stop and pinch myself. I sit here watching Obama addressing supporters in Minnesota with 5yr old daughter in my lap and I look at her and say your next feeling the uplifting of spirit that we know those who marched on washington years ago should have been here to witness. And then I think and I smile as I wipe away a tear cause I know there is a great rivival goin on up in heaven right now because they know there sacrifices where not in vain…Its our turn yall get out VOTE take someone to the polls with so they can VOTE there is still a battle to win and we stand on the cusp of winning a victory in a battle that has been fought over many generations and its our turn at bat . This is a journey through the minds of inner city black men born in the 80’s. These are men whose closest life experience of the Civil Rights Movement was hip hop. Children who were born in the nation which already began its transformation to diversity, kids who went to school, with Whites, Asians, Latinos, and Black Americans. A teenager whose only racial battle was a black hood gang having a rift with a rival Spanish gang. Then there’s a young man, a black man whose child’s first president is a “Black man”. This book is just a point of view from the streets on how the cander of one man change the way the hood perceives an intelligent black man. I wake up, Flick through the channels, and on the News they were talking about a Black man named Barack H. Obama and a white woman named Hillary R. Clinton running for the presidential nomination of their party, and after I blew out the smoke of the weed, I’ve just inhaled, I said WHAT!
I couldn’t believe what I heard, cause the day before I was going through my fifth grade year book with my nephew he pointed out to me, under our class pictures we answered a question that stated “ future occupations”, that only the white kids put down president. My mind was blown, my eyes was glued to the T.V, while looking through my old year book seeing how in 1996 every black kid in my school put down for that same question a Rapper, NBA star, NFL player, and the only occupation that both races choose was a “Doctor”!. That amazed me that the only white collar occupation a black kid can think of was a fucking “DOCTOR”! And I looked at the T.V, Barack Obama Was doing a stump speech and I was like damn “his face is, like my face”.
Just the thought, in my child’s fifth grade year book there could be a possibility that, a black child would consider his future occupation to be President of the United States. Just the thought that my own child can one day say to me, “Daddy, I want to be President”, and I look at him and say you could, and deep down inside not feel like I’m lying. Honestly. . . . Before the news that day if I would have answered that question, being a street nigga, I would have felt, I was lying to my child. Even though I can with great honor, encourage my child to be whatever my child wants to be, up to that point, I would have felt President of the United States was a little far fetched. Being the President of the United States is the one thing, realistically, I could never picture my child any black child could end up being.

Troy Anthony Davis was given a conditional stay of execution, he was to be executed for the murder of Ofcr. MacPhail, today. The only evidence was informant testimony which has been recanted by seven of the nine so-called witnesses.
Attached is article [1] which has the initial story and article: “Troy Davis International Demand…. which was last week’s story, both featured in The NY Amsterdam News. Below are the recent developments.
Federal court gave Davis’ lawyers 15 days to file their arguments; then the state an additional 10 days to respond.
Those two timeframes would exceed the Nov. 3 end date of the current death warrant issued by Chatham County Superior Court Judge Penny Haas Freesemann on Oct. 15.
Russell Willard, spokesman for the attorney general’s office, said the Department of Corrections officials were being informed the Monday execution is off, “pursuant to the court order.”

I believe my youngest son will be the next great political mind of our generation, (he just doesn’t know it yet). He is a debater without an audience; his from the heart for all people. I am not rich, and we live in what would be called the ghetto, however both our sons are college educated, so I will do anything for education. My name is Norchelle and I am very interested in your field of work and your dedication to it. I just recently graduated from high school and intend on starting college soon. I would first like a bit of advice from you. I would love to work in that field and even more with inner city youth, but I don’t know exactly how to go about it. I know that I want to start a organization in a few of years that could show our youth not only why its important to live out their dreams, but also to never let them go nor be told that they can’t accomplish them. I want to inform them on drugs and alcohol prevention and also why higher education means more than gang violence. Growing up in Watts, California has really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I have been searching the web and found some great stuff on you and the work you have done and continue to do really opened my eyes. Some times we go through life not looking and listening and it is time for the masses to stand up and be counted. As you said we must be willing to sacrifice.

I could go on forever on how much you’ve inpired and helped me through very real issues as man. I think I should basically start off as saying of who I am where I came from. I’m 28 years with an American Euromix. I’m Irish, English, French, and Itallian. I say this because my whole life I’ve struggled with this issue of “American Identity”, and what it really means in today’s 21st century. You’ve also helped me in the issue of Religion and Politics, especially now since our nation is so polarized and in my view is destroying the church or body as a whole. I pray alot on how can I understand this as a whole so I can teach people what true message of the Gospel is, which is Justice, mercy, salvation, and hope. We live in the United States of Amnesia, were we forget our history every other week. I love your book Democracy Matters, I have the whole book noted, and highligted. I am a wife and mother that invented and patented a child care product. My product has received excellent reviews and has been seen on numerous local television news programs. It has been written about in numerous local (Florida) news papers, as well as the L A Times and other prominent news papers. It was well reviewed by Travel Weekly, Pregnancy Magazine, and various regional magazines. Montel Williams even invited me to show my product on his talk show. After the airing of that show I received orders from all over the United States and Canada.
Even though it has received excellent reviews, I can not get national retailers to give my product a second look. I truly believe that being African American has been the main reason that I have not been able to find a place for my product in the child care market.

Dr. West, since there is no fourm to hear the opinon of Africans on mainstream TV, is it possible that you and some of your intellectual associates in the african community could broadcast a rebuttal to all that has been said regarding the recent media blitz on the Obama and Dr. Wright issue. In my opinion, I think it is shameful that mainstream media ask Obama to disavow himself from comments that most african americans believe to be true – that is why so many have voted for him. When on the other hand, those who ask the question of why Obama has not distanced himself from Dr. Wright – we should be asking the same questions to them – when fortune 500 companies have policies that are discrimatory towards people of color – how many of them stop supporting them, when some were creating policy to not associate with companies that perpetuated the discrimination in south africa- how many of them distanced themselves from that – of course we can go on an on – as these same issues have been brought to the big screen of natioinal media – dealing with the catholic church, bush and the republicans – how many have quit being republican because of the anti american policies – not to mention the anti-african american polices. How can we have a voice on the many tv show that come on every sunday morning and they do not ask people like yourself to participate. We need our own program – to combat these negative comments that do not represent our people. I would like to here your comments

I have a finence who is a Muslim and Im wondering who I can contact about a little situation that I have. I have a fience of 6 years that I’m passionately in love with. However recently I have been feeling to leave the relationship because he smokes weed constantly, (3-4 times a day). It doesnt seem to be a way of meditation because right after he plays video games for 2-3 hours.
I have put up with it for years and he says he will stop, but to no avail. Am I being annoying? We live in a one bedroom and he smokes and we fight cause I can’t simply smell the stink of the smoke. And I cant stand to see money wasted like this daily. Im not saint, but I realize that as my first relationship we have to save in order to have a blessed future.
The first thing he does when he wakes for work is smokes weed. The last thing he does before bed is more weed.
He wont listen to me nor his mom. All his firends do it so they wouldnt encourage him to stop.

I wanted to talk with you about the changes that are going to be made in the educational system here in California. They have created this Africian American Advisory Committee. I really don’t know who is on this committee but I know that the changes must come from a group that is more engaged in the community than this group. We have to have ways to provide services to our children in the local school from the inside this is a change in how the funds are allocated and who is considered a partner in the educational system. I am concrend because this must be a real effort and I do not believe that this is happening. You can contact the California Department of Education for find out the plan for service providers who want to work in the local schools.

Dear Dr. Cornel West, It is a honor and a privilege to be writing you with hopes that you will write back in response. I listen to as many lectures of yours as I can get my hands on and I watch you on television whenever I have the chance to do so. I value your words and intellect as much as any other teacher or professor I have ever know or heard. I have spent 20 years living in Europe; performing and perfecting my style of music and my voice.
What I am about to say is a secret, because I have never told anybody before.
I remember reading newspaper, magazines and watching television and hearing about Quincy Jones, Miles Davis, Josephine Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Armstrong Satchmo, and many others had left America and were enjoying a unique audience in Europe. And here in America, we were still being segregated. I couldn’t wait to go to Europe. When I walked into the street of major cities in Europe, there was a band playing on every corner. To my surprise, something sounded familiar. Was that funk that I was hearing? Was that blues I was hearing? Was that jazz that I was hearing? I had to stop and pinch myself. Had I gone back in time, or was I in Europe? A vacation turned into 20 years. I SEEN YOU SPEAK AND YOU REMIND ME OF MY COLLEGE PROFESSORS

History of all the things that I have witnessed, read about, seen on TV ,To be alive in the time when a black man is the Democratic nominee for the office of President of these United States and his opponent was a woman is something that if any one person had predicted as little as 10 yrs ago they would have been looked at as if they where joking.To witness a campaign between not just a black man but also a woman…My God..I wonder if we really comprehend what is happening before us. My people this is MLK’s dream happening before our eyes, this is what the people who came before us stood tall fighting for even when being attacked by dogs, blasted with fire hoses , hung from trees and so much more..My God we are a part of history people. I sit here watching Obama addressing supporters in Minnesota with 5yr old daughter in my lap and I look at her and say your next feeling the uplifting of spirit that we know those who marched on washington years ago should have been here to witness. And then I think and I smile as I wipe away a tear cause I know there is a great rivival goin on up in heaven right now because they know there sacrifices where not in vain…Its our turn yall get out VOTE take someone to the polls with so they can VOTE there is still a battle to win and we stand on the cusp of winning a victory in a battle that has been fought over many generations and its our turn at bat . I wake up, Flick through the channels, and on the News they were talking about a Black man named Barack H. Obama and a white woman named Hillary R. Clinton running for the presidential nomination of their party, and after I blew out the smoke of the weed, I’ve just inhaled, I said WHAT!
I couldn’t believe what I heard, cause the day before I was going through my fifth grade year book with my nephew he pointed out to me, under our class pictures we answered a question that stated “ future occupations”, that only the white kids put down president. My mind was blown, my eyes was glued to the T.V, while looking through my old year book seeing how in 1996 every black kid in my school put down for that same question a Rapper, NBA star, NFL player, and the only occupation that both races choose was a “Doctor”!. That amazed me that the only white collar occupation a black kid can think of was a fucking “DOCTOR”! And I looked at the T.V, Barack Obama Was doing a stump speech and I was like damn “his face is, like my face”.
Just the thought, in my child’s fifth grade year book there could be a possibility that, a black child would consider his future occupation to be President of the United States. Just the thought that my own child can one day say to me, “Daddy, I want to be President”, and I look at him and say you could, and deep down inside not feel like I’m lying. Honestly. . . . Before the news that day if I would have answered that question, being a street nigga, I would have felt, I was lying to my child. Even though I can with great honor, encourage my child to be whatever my child wants to be, up to that point, I would have felt President of the United States was a little far fetched. Being the President of the United States is the one thing, realistically, I could never picture my child any black child could end up being.

Troy Anthony Davis was given a conditional stay of execution, he was to be executed for the murder of Ofcr. MacPhail, today. The only evidence was informant testimony which has been recanted by seven of the nine so-called witnesses.

I believe my youngest son will be the next great political mind of our generation, (he just doesn’t know it yet). He is a debater without an audience; his from the heart for all people. My name is Norchelle and I am very interested in your field of work and your dedication to it. I just recently graduated from high school and intend on starting college soon. I would first like a bit of advice from you. I would love to work in that field and even more with inner city youth, but I don’t know exactly how to go about it. I know that I want to start a organization in a few of years that could show our youth not only why its important to live out their dreams, but also to never let them go nor be told that they can’t accomplish them. I want to inform them on drugs and alcohol prevention and also why higher education means more than gang violence. Growing up in Watts, California has really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I thank god everyday that I am not a part of the statistics that somehow keep growing against us but I am very willing to make a change. I could go on forever on how much you’ve inpired and helped me through very real issues as man. I think I should basically start off as saying of who I am where I came from. I’m 28 years with an American Euromix. I’m Irish, English, French, and Itallian. I say this because my whole life I’ve struggled with this issue of “American Identity”, and what it really means in today’s 21st century. You’ve also helped me in the issue of Religion and Politics, especially now since our nation is so polarized and in my view is destroying the church or body as a whole. I am a wife and mother that invented and patented a child care product. My product has received excellent reviews and has been seen on numerous local television news programs. It has been written about in numerous local (Florida) news papers, as well as the L A Times and other prominent news papers. It was well reviewed by Travel Weekly, Pregnancy Magazine, and various regional magazines. Montel Williams even invited me to show my product on his talk show. After the airing of that show I received orders from all over the United States and Canada.
Even though it has received excellent reviews, I can not get national retailers to give my product a second look. I truly believe that being African American has been the main reason that I have not been able to find a place for my product in the child care market.

I am a strong advocate for change and I feel we all need to know this.
Dr. West, since there is no fourm to hear the opinon of Africans on mainstream TV, is it possible that you and some of your intellectual associates in the african community could broadcast a rebuttal to all that has been said regarding the recent media blitz on the Obama and Dr. Wright issue. In my opinion, I think it is shameful that mainstream media ask Obama to disavow himself from comments that most african americans believe to be true – that is why so many have voted for him. When on the other hand, those who ask the question of why Obama has not distanced himself from Dr. Wright – we should be asking the same questions to them – when fortune 500 companies have policies that are discrimatory towards people of color – how many of them stop supporting them, when some were creating policy to not associate with companies that perpetuated the discrimination in south africa- how many of them distanced themselves from that – of course we can go on an on – as these same issues have been brought to the big screen of natioinal media – dealing with the catholic church, bush and the republicans – how many have quit being republican because of the anti american policies – not to mention the anti-african american polices. How can we have a voice on the many tv show that come on every sunday morning and they do not ask people like yourself to participate. We need our own program – to combat these negative comments that do not represent our people. I would like to here your comments
