Dr. Cornel West & BMWMB Bring “Sound Of Black Tour” to UT

DR. CORNEL WEST & BLACK MEN WHO MEAN BUSINESS (BMWMB) BRING ‘SOUND OF BLACK TOUR’ TO UT KNOXVILLE
Author and Public Speaker Isiah Reese To Moderate Event With Discussions
From New CD Project Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations
Knoxville, Tennessee – February 25, 2008—Dr. Cornel West, Princeton University professor, best-selling author, orator, and recording artist, along with Black Men Who Mean Business (BMWMB), will bring the Sound of Black Tour™ to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s James R. Cox Auditorium on March 4 at 7:00 P.M. for an all engaging dialogue on his new CD project.
Dr. Cornel West’s third album project, Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations, under the Hidden Beach Forum label, will serve as the focal point of discussion at the listening party. West’s new CD project gives an explosive critique on major issues through collaboration of conscious thought and musical righteousness as this project takes him out of the confines of Princeton classrooms and releases him creatively to share the mic with Hip Hop and R&B heavy hitters like Andre 3000, Black Thought, Kanye West protégé’ Rhymefest, KRS-1, Talib Kweli, Prince, Dave Hollister, and the late Gerald LeVert, among others, addressing issues of racial profiling, politics, 9/11, war, and a litany of other concerns of not just Black people but America at large.
“We are excited to bring our musical mission to the campus of UT Knoxville in hopes that it will help lay a strong and much needed foundation in this country in cleaning up music where misogyny, homophobia and empty materialism are concerned,” stated Dr. West.
The project was birthed under the vision of Mike Dailey, Sacramento-based writer and producer, along with co-producer Clifton West, who are both members of Dr. West’s new movement, BMWMB. The duo serve as supporting cast to Dr. West with their mission to inform and empower the African American community through hip hop, R&B, Spoken Word and Rap as well as mentoring, uplifting and truthtelling in the community.
“The Hip Hop music of today is under constant fire because of its negative lyrics and videos. We feel our movement can serve as part of the solution in helping to change the landscape of Black music in America,” stated Clifton West, who wrote and produced several singles on the project.
The event is free and open to the public and is designed to serve as a platform to open up dialogue on various issues among young adults at college campuses across the country.

Dr. Cornel West I am been in awe of what you are doing for many years. I feel your cd is a great avenue to reach black people in general and young black people especially. Our people are numb to what is going on around them and hopefully this will help to wake them up…

Dr. West/BMWMB Featuring Jill Scott– what time is it? All I may say about this whole CD but in particular about What Time Is It, is as follows: “Simply Beautiful and Most Relevant for Blues Peoples of every color but most certainly the original Blues Folk.” I am yelling~ I know what time it is. . .
