Los Angeles– February 21, 2008— Hidden Beach Forum recording artist, professor, best-selling author, orator, and film star Dr. Cornel West is heating up the music entertainment networks this week with two highly esteemed honors. Viewers can catch a glimpse this week on MTV as Dr. Cornel West is the featured Artist of the Week and then again as West receives the Award of Education at the first annual BET HONORS premiering on Friday, February 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
MTV’s 52 Artists/ 52 Weeks Campaign features a behind-the-scenes look at Dr. Cornel West as he takes his message to Grace A. Dunn Middle School in Trenton, New Jersey and shares a lesson with young students in Black history, race and class, and how to lead a respectful, righteous life. Viewers can also hear soundbites from the Dr. Cornel West’s third album project, Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations on Hidden Beach Forum. West’s new CD project gives an explosive critique- addressing major issues such as racial profiling, politics, 9/11, war, and a litany of other concerns of not just Black people but America at large. Hip Hop and R&B heavy hitters like Prince, Andre 3000, Black Thought, Kanye West protégé’ Rhymefest, KRS-1, Talib Kweli, Dave Hollister, and the late Gerald LeVert, among others, join in the effort and creatively share the mic on this musical collaboration produced by Sacramento-based writers and producers, Mike Dailey and Clifton West of Black Men Who Mean Business.
The excitement doesn’t end there. THE BET HONORS premiere will kick-off the night with a show-stopping performance as Grammy Award winning, R&B artist and label-mate Jill Scott gives a powerful rendition of “The Real Thing” to honor Dr. Cornel West along with Hill Harper of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation who presents this special award. About Dr. Cornel West
Dr. Cornel West is a professor of religion and African American studies at Princeton University and is considered one of America’s most gifted, provocative, and important public intellectuals. He has won numerous awards, including the American Book Award, and has received more than 20 honorary degrees. In his scholarly work, he has authored more than 20 books including the best-selling Race Matters which has sold nearly 400,000 copies to date and continues to influence a national dialogue on race. A political theorist who’s worked on presidential bids by Bill Bradley, Al Sharpton and now Barack Obama, West has also been involved with such projects as the Million Man March and Russell Simmon’s Hip Hop Summit. He continues to be an integral part of social change as well as a driving force in pop culture. Oh what I wouldn t give to have been a fly on the wall during this luncheon. Here is Heidi Montag having lunch with Meghan McCain, who is none other than the daughter of Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain. And yes, Heidi is boring as usual with her straight blonde locks that never change. Meghan of course does not have the most inspiring hairstyle, but when your dad is running for President of the United States, fading into the background is much more requisite than standing out amongst the crowd. Heidi dressed as conservative as even she could I suppose, and styled her hair in the same boring style with the flat iron and the side part. One would think that if you are somewhat of a starlet and are going to be seen with the daughter of a Presidential candidate you might make more of an effort. However, maybe Heidi doesn t even understand the whole Presidential thing who knows! Shake it up Heidi! Her hairstyle is getting as about as boring as her storyline.

Президент России Дмитрий Медведев подписал указ “О комиссии при президенте Российской Федерации по противодействию попыткам фальсификации истории в ущерб интересам России”. Возглавлять данную группу будет руководитель Администрации президента Сергей Нарышкин.
В соответствии с указом, текст которого размещен на сайте Кремля, всего в состав комиссии вошли 28 человек, в том числе представители Администрации президента, МИД, ФСБ, СВР, Совбеза, Минрегионразвития, Минюста, Минкультуры, Общественной палаты, Госдумы, Росархива, Роснауки.
Медведев неоднократно заявлял о недопустимости фальсификации истории, в том числе Великой Отечественной войны. В своем видеоблоге от 8 мая президент написал, что попытки фальсификаций “становятся все более жесткими, злыми, агрессивными”. На встрече с ветеранами 7 мая глава государства подчеркнул, что Россия всегда будет реагировать на попытки исказить суть этого события.
В частности, МИД РФ регулярно привлекает внимание к попыткам пересмотреть историю в ряде стран бывшего СССР. Российское внешнеполитическое ведомство неоднократно выражало возмущение героизацией национальных частей СС в Прибалтике и возвеличиванием ОУН - УПА на Украине. По мнению российской стороны, подобные акции являются проявлениями неофашизма и нацизма.
“Время все дальше и дальше отдаляет нас от войны, но тем не менее количество трактовок - причем очень спорных - этого периода не становится меньше”, - отметил Медведев. По его мнению, так происходит потому, что “становится все меньше и меньше тех людей, кто участвовал в войне, видел ее собственными глазами”. “И вот этот вакуум, этот пробел - либо по неведению, либо зачастую умышленно - заполняется новым видением, новыми трактовками войны”, - считает президент.
“По сути, мы оказываемся в ситуации, когда должны отстаивать историческую истину и даже еще раз доказывать те факты, которые еще совсем недавно казались абсолютно очевидными. Это трудно, иногда даже, честно сказать, противно. Но это необходимо делать”, - подчеркнул глава государства. “Мы не должны закрывать глаза на страшную правду войны. И, с другой стороны, мы никому не позволим подвергнуть сомнению подвиг нашего народа”, - заявил Медведев.
